IWAI Kildare will hold its end of season event in Naas Canal Harbour on Saturday October 29 and Sunday October 30.  This year’s theme is Halloween, so dig out all those scary costumes for Sunday night.

Rally registration and refreshments will be in the KYS (the old canal stores) on Saturday from 1000 hrs onwards;  registration fee is €40, with a small reduction for solo boaters.

Skippers, crews and guests are invited to gather for a kick-off at Lock 13 in Sallins on Friday night.  Boats will leave from Sallins at 0800 hrs on Saturday morning.

Waterways Ireland (WI) have agreed to provide limited assistance at locks on Saturday morning and again on Monday morning.  WI suggest that some boats may wish to moor overnight in the vicinity of Lock 5 on the Naas Canal.  We ask skippers and crews to provide assistance to other boats where possible, during passage through the five locks to Naas Harbour.  The assistance of non-boaters at Locks would be especially welcome on both Saturday and Monday.

On Saturday night there will be a catered meal for all registered participants (please bring your own utensils), to be followed by a short event hosted and guided by Erin Fornhoff, our Writer in Residence.

Sunday will see games and events for both adults and the not so adult.  Les Saunders of IWAI CSIG will make a presentation on the Inland Waterways electronic Charts.  Charlie Dunn will launch his book ‘67M, the Story of a Barge’.  This will be followed by a Bring Your Own Meal and prize giving.  The rest of the evening will be given over to ceol agus craic, led by Barbara Bridge – bring your instruments.

Departure early on Monday 31, to winter moorings.
