The Corbally Canal from Naas to Corbally Harbour, north of Athgarvan, Kilcullen and Newbridge. In the 1950s the R445 was built across the canal. The IWAI is campaigning for a bridge to allow everyone to walk, cycle or navigate in safety on this Canal.

The people of Robertstown led by Fr PJ Murphy preserved the Grand Hotel as a canal museum and held a series of period banquets and festivals around the hotel and two barges. We thank Miriam Malone for the use of these images.

In 1978 boats navigated through the first locks on the partially restored Canal. In 1987 the IWAI and friends celebrated the re-opening of the Canal to Naas Harbour.
