A substantial 18th early nineteenth century former Hotel with a large land holding extending to approximately 0.76 ha (1.89 acres) of land to the rear. The four storey, detached building is arranged to provide former hotel accommodation at basement, ground, first and second floor level with original features throughout and views over the Grand Canal.  The hotel was originally established in 1804 and ceased trading in 1849 when it was converted into a barracks for the Irish Constabulary between 1869 and 1905. The property was more recently in use as a museum/gallery and is now vacant.
