Current Workday Notice – 02 September  2023 – Lock 1

 

We will be holding a workday this Saturday 16th September 2023 from 10:00 at Lock 1

Our planned work: Tidying up around the Oldbridge Sealock. We may also continue our ivy work.

The last day: A big job was done at Lock 1. The joints between the paving there, were cleaned. Cleaning of our kerbing next to the greenway by the Lock was also done. The Lock chamber was also cleaned of weeds growing from its stonework.

Volunteers always welcome.

We provide free magazines, produced by our parent group and give them to all takers, drop by if such might take your fancy.

Workday Notice – 06th August  2022 – Lock 1

 

We held a workday on Saturday 06th August 2022 from 10:00 at Lock 1 <!– Oldbridge Sealock – Lock 1* –>.<!– –>

Our planned work: The same work as the last day of cutting on tree further up the Oldbridge section. We’d hope to continue with our cleaning around the Lock as well.

The last day: The group fitted locks on the gates up at Lock 2. These were previously broken. I personally wasn’t there, so not sure what other work took place.

Workday Notice – 21th May  2022

 

We held a workday on Saturday 21th May 2022 from 10:00 at Lock 1 <!– Oldbridge Sealock – Lock 1* –>.<!– –>

Our planned work: The same work as the last day of cutting the lawns either side of the first lock. Additional work will be done on ivy further up the waterway.

The last day: The council had cut the road side lawn at lock 1 so a nice little saving of petrol. The river side one needed to be cut.  Work resumed cutting ivy waterside, further of the channel.

Our planned work was: The lawns would be cut once again at first lock. Additional work would be done on ivy further up the waterway.

The last day: The lawns were cut either side of lock 1 the last day. Work resumed cutting ivy waterside, further of the channel.

Previous Workday Notice – 23th April  2022

 

We held a workday on Saturday 23th April 2022 from 10:00 at Lock 3 <!– Oldbridge Sealock – Lock 1* –>.<!– –>

Our planned work: The first lock will be given a tidy up i.e. lawns either side cut. If we have excess time, will continue with our ivy work

The last day: Three branches and a tree were removed from the water, either side of the bridge by Battle of the Boyne Centre entrance.

Previous Workday Notice – 09th April  2022

 

We held a workday on Saturday 09th April 2022 from 10:00 at Lock 1 <!– Oldbridge Sealock – Lock 1* –>.<!– –>

Our planned work: To remove three trees which had fallen into the water, either side of the bridge by Battle of the Boyne Centre entrance.

The last day: We’d continued similar tidying up of branches.

 

Workday Notice – 14th December  2021

 

We will be holding a workday this Saturday 14th December 2019 from 10:00 at Oldbridge Sealock – Lock 1*.

Our planned work: We will continue cutting overhanging growth up from Lock 1.

The last day: Lock 1 was cleaning up. Water in this section was so clear, that one of our volunteers walked up along the way, to see what “treasure” (rubbish) leark under the waters.

Lock 3 was pumped out, with the intentions of fitting up the missing mechanism for the Tailgates (river end). Our group worked late to fitted these. Our crew worked late but we managed to fit up one gate. The intension was to finish work for the year at this workday for the year but we’ll have a bonus days work :-).
