Grand Canal, Royal Canal, Barrow Line & Barrow Navigation – Renewal of permits for vessels & entry to canal network – Canal Act 1986 (Bye-Laws) 1988

Waterways Ireland wishes to remind all masters and owners of vessels that all canal permits expired on 1st November 2022 and must be renewed.
Permits applications can be made online at https://www.waterwaysireland.org/online-services/canal-permits.
Masters of vessels are advised that entry to the canal network at Richmond Harbour, Shannon Harbour and St Mullins requires vessels to be in possession of a valid canal permit or canal visitor’s permit.
Vessels with no permit as required by Bye Law 6(8) will be removed as operationally convenient.
