MARINE NOTICE NO. 49 OF 2019
EUROPEAN COARSE ANGLING COMPETITION 29TH AND 30TH JUNE
Waterways Ireland wishes to inform all water users on the Lower Bann
Navigation that the European Coarse Angling Competition will take place on
29th and 30th June 2019.
Anglers should note that in advance of the competition on the dates stated
above that there will be an angling exclusion zone in place from 10th June
to 30th June (incl) from Portglenone bridge to the upstream extent of
angling stands on the western bank in place to host the competition (approx.
2.5 km).
This exclusion has been endorsed by the fishery owner The Honourable The
Irish Society.
Boaters should note the following; From 10th to 28th June boaters are asked
to proceed through the stretch at low wash and keep to the east bank side of
the river. During the competition on 29th and 30th June access will be
controlled by Community Rescue service and boaters must follow a lead boat
to take them through the zone.
Waterways Ireland welcomes the European Coarse Angling Championships to the
Lower Bann Navigation and would take this opportunity to thank all waterway
users and stakeholders for their co-operation in helping the organisers to
host such a prestigious competition in Northern Ireland for the first time.
