The Carrick-On-Shannon branch is a vibrant and active branch of members. We’re all sorts, small boats, large cruisers, solo boaters, couple and families, all who are interested in boating life here in the north Shannon.
Our cruising area covers the Shannon river navigation, the many small lakes and tributaries – from the quiet Camlin and peaceful Kilglass Lough all the way to the beautiful Lough Key and to the east, the magnificent Lough Allen.
Known as the friendly branch, we warmly welcome all members and visitors to our area and encourage everyone to get involved in branch activities. If you are interested in joining Carrick-on-Shannon branch, we’d love to have you – just email carrick@iwai.ie and we’ll get you sorted. And do follow the Carrick Branch on Facebook for the latest information and chats about life on the best part of the river!
Some of our highlights
Through your Carrick branch membership, you’ll get to know people on the river as well as have the chance to join our events. A few highlights of our boating season are:
Shannon Boat Rally
The highlight of many Carrick member’s year! A very special week on the river with our Athlone branch friends, where there are many trophies to be won, fun to be had and memories made. It’s hard to actually describe the Rally…. You just need to go and experience it for yourself! Here’s a little bit more information if you want to find out what this is all about.
Cruise in Company weekends
We have a few of these weekends every year where we get together, enjoy the river and each other’s company – and have a bit of fun along the way. Regardless of your boating experience, these are fantastic weekends to get started with getting to know branch members and the craic to be had.
Carrick Cares
A wonderful day where our members invite guests from a range of local charities to enjoy getting on the water. This takes place every September and is a real highlight of our boating year.
This is only a taste of what we do – check out our Calendar of Events for more.
