Itinerary

Friday 29th April:  Meet & Greet at the Lough Ree Inn, Coosan Point. Finger food.

Saturday 30th April: Cruise to Portrunny departing 11am. Commodore’s Cheese and Wine when all are moored up at about 5pm. Liam Sherringham’s partially completed barge the 80M, with large empty floored space, will be there to be used as accommodation for the CIC Group Dining. This will be a one pot supper so all can pitch in with different food items and have a community dining event. Music after by “The Bruising Cruisers”

Sunday 1st May: Cruise to River Inny and moor on the bank at the Red Bridge. The Barge 80M and possibly one other will be there also, moored to the bank so as to allow the fleet to moor safely. Murrays Pub, Maghera is our destination pub where there will be food and music. There is a 7k walk, cycle or drive to Murrays, but there will be transport back to the fleet at the end of the evening. There will be lights on the mooring area for safety.

Monday 2nd May: Return to home marina

Cost will be €10.00 per boat as normal to deal with general expenses.
Cost of Food in Murrays Maghera €15.00 and this includes Taxi back to fleet that night.

This may be the first ever such event (subject to correction by branch historians) on the Inny. There is road access right to the riverbank which has been inspected and is suitable for mooring. Mooring stakes will have been installed for the barges to moor and cruisers will be moored outside.

Athlone IWAI has been putting pressure on Waterways Ireland to install a mooring at the Red Bridge on the Inny and it is shown as a navigable route on the WI Guides. Participation by a large group in this event will assist us in this effort and of course we will have the satisfaction of recording a first event to the Inny and the usual craic on the Bank Holiday cruising event.

Please confirm if you are attending and your numbers for food on Sunday evening.
